What Can Dance Training Do For Your Child?
Dance, when introduced during the growing years, contributes significantly to physical and motor development, grace, poise, and self-reliance. Association with other young people and performance on stage contributes to personality development and the growth of self-confidence.
It is the desire of this school to develop in each student a love for and a skill in the art of dance according to individual ability so that dance experience plays an exciting part of the students life and education. Our classes are designed for beginner, intermediate, and advanced students. We are dedicated to excellence.
Getting “the most” out of any student requires not only discipline, but also compassion. We truly believe that a positive attitude is key to earning your students’ trust and respect. We instill in our students that good basic techni- cal training is imperative along with physical ability and strength. Dance is an art form and should be respected as such. We like to motivate our students with challenging combinations, but never cross the line of humiliating them. They may have a hard time with a move at first, but when a student finally achieves something that they thought was impossible, the result is priceless. They want more. More challenges, more practice, more passion, more dance.
The faculty at The Meredith Gravely School of Dance teaches because they love dance and children. We hope our love and dedication will have a domino effect. A great student/teacher dynamic not only creates good dancers, but we hope to instill confidence and poise that a student will carry with them for the rest of their life.
In the end, we know we have done a good job when a child comes off the stage smiling ear to ear. They know they have done their very best and that is really the greatest reward.
